Using churches is a sad example of alternative marketing that is becoming more and more widespread. While it is sad, it is encouraging. For me it stands out that Hollywood, as void of Christians and Christian values as it may be, recognizes the power and influence of the pulpit. While I hope that churches do not become pawns used by corporations (I heard that some churches have sponsored sermon series ie. Jiffy Lube’s Tune Up Your Life Series or something like that) I am encouraged that these companies do see the influence of the church. I pray that the influence of the church will continue to grow in today’s culture and will someday regain the leadership it once had.
